HAP 542 - Health Policy for 3 Credits (with Washington Health Policy Institute)
Examines concepts of social policy, power, and political behaviors and details the development of public health policy and its influence on health care professionals and the delivery system. Explores role of health politics in the workplace, organization, government, and community with emphasis on involvement and advocacy. HAP 542 is held 7:30 to 9am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Attendance is also required at Washington Health Policy lnstitute.
HAP 546/690 - Health Policy Leadership for 3 Credits (with Washington Health Policy Institute)
Examines the leadership process from a policy and organizational perspective. Helps post-baccalaureate health care professionals develop leadership skills and participate effectively in many areas of health policy making. Teaches individuals how to link health issues with policy development and pursue appropriate strategies. Participants receive customized leadership assessment. Students will register for either HAP 546 or HAP 690. Students in both courses will meet together with the same instructor, but will have different course objectives and requirements. Interested students with questions on which course to register for should contact the course instructor, Dr. PJ Maddox (pmaddox@gmu.edu). HAP 546/690 begins Sunday (prior to the lnstitute) and continues from 7:30 to 9am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Attendance is also required at Washington Health Policy Institute.
